We're in full-on hibernation mode now. I haven't left the house since Saturday. It's cold, dark, windy, and there's nothing to do. It's winter break, and aside from tooling around the mall with a grumpy 4-year-old, there isn't anything appealing out there. No movies playing, nothing. We have a children's museum, but every child in a 30-mile radius is going to be there, sneezing and drooling over the exhibits during one of the worst sick seasons I've seen. Just can't do it.

That reminds me of The Simpsons episode where a bunch of sick kids prevented people from voting in the Families Come First initiative. Hee.

Moe starts walking up the stairs to the polling place and all these little kids start hugging him and saying, "We love you! We love you!"

Yeah. We've been snowbound for days and I desperately need to go to the bank, library, grocery store, and the post office. Josh plowed us out last night and, in spite of the sub-zero temps, I got the baby ready to hit the road for the ten mile trek to the next town over....the closest place with a decent grocery store and a PO that isn't staffed by clueless in-breeds.

I got about three blocks before the horrible road conditions forced me to make a u-turn and head back home. I went to the local post office (which is staffed by clueless in-breeds) and the truly awful Piggly Wiggly that's a mile away. We now have just enough food (and beer!) to make it through one more blizzard. That's the best I could do.

This winter can bite me...

That's the worst. Enough with the snow and the cold! At least you have food and beer. :)

yeah. I should have gone to the market to pick up food for dinner. But I just didn't want to. And it is actually not too bad here, Was sunny and 40. But even a little cold was bringing me down. ( I did try to go to the South End in Boston this AM- read trendy hip window shopping, but it was too early for things to be open and very cold out)

I think I'll draw a bath, throw the kids and some bath crayons in it and read while supervising

I should have shopped also, but bleh. The act of getting dressed and bundled while convincing O to embark on the journey would have taken so long, it wasn't even worth it. Maybe tomorrow.

These are truly the dog days of winter. Or something.

Actually, I just looked at the forecast and the weekend looks delightful.
Up for dim sum either Sat or Sun?

We've been dressing really warmly and going out to play anyway lest we DIE. Today it started snowing on us, but that was still preferable to yet another episode of Curious George. We found some forlorn ducks and fed them. It was pathetic.

Man, if only we had some forlorn ducks to feed. We could chase the forlorn geese in the cornfield out back, but our gunhappy hunter neighbor would probably shoot at us. Which might be more interesting than what we're doing now.

Blaze orange never goes out of style, right?

Hmmm.... make a pie? We also bake and overeat when we are trapped.

Indeed!

And funnily enough, we are already drowning in oatmeal cookies and banana muffins! We, too, bake and overeat.
