Kindergarten practice Cocoa!

Owen's registered for kindergarten as of today. It's especially bizarre, considering when we moved here from NYC, we not only moved back into my childhood neighborhood, but Owen is also attending the same preschool that my sister did almost 30 years ago...and now he's going to the same elementary school that she and I did. It hasn't changed much!

We're getting inundated with more snow today, so it's cocoa time. Cocoa time!

What a nostalgic feeling that must be - taking him to register in the same school you attended. I don't think there's anything in my life with that much continuity.
Love the cocoa pic - that's a great spoon, Ms B.

It's especially strange since I've moved every year or two my entire life...so I haven't had that sort of continuity, either!

The mug/spoon/coaster set was a gift from my SIL and her family. Ikea! :)

Ikea - a continual surprise. Gotta love sets that don't look like sets. :-D

Say it isn't so! I can't believe Owen is old enough to register for kindergarten!!

My brother also followed in my school footsteps and a few of the same teachers when we moved back to Tennessee after living in Florida. He had the same kindergarten and first grade teacher that I did. So I find this especially interesting that Owen is following in your sister's footsteps too!

PS: I agree, it's hot chocolate time (again). We got another 2 inches of snow yesterday. At the moment the sun is peaking through the clouds. More snow tomorrow.

I know, right? Time flies.

How funny that your brother followed you as well! It must be easier as a kid when you know what you're getting into.

I'm SO DONE with snow.

I hear you, me and snow aren't talking to each other. I'm over it! But I'm guessing that Owen loves it???

I didn't find out until a few years ago that my brother was always being compared to me by his teachers (even the ones I didn't have). He said it was like walking in my shadow - it was intimidating. He did make it out of my shadow that I didn't even know I was casting.

we moved back into the house that i grew up in when we moved from VA to Atlanta. the girls are not attending the same schools that i did (long story), but it is definitely interesting to see the changes from when i was growing up.

That really must have been surreal! Did you feel as though you couldn't make more changes to the house, like you were disturbing history? As someone who didn't stay anywhere too long, I can't imagine having such a strong connection to a particular childhood home. I'd imagine one would feel like it had to be preserved somehow.

it definitely took some getting used to, esp for my husband. but we own the house now (we bought it from my parents) &, believe it or not, will be tearing it down at some point. we have been working with some pretty cool architects to design a new home.

the house, as it currently stands, needs so much work that it makes sense to rebuild, rather than renovate. my mom was always changing stuff up, so by the time the house was mine, it barely felt like the house i grew up in. it helped that i lived outside of it for 10 years prior to moving back. ;)

There's a grocery store on Rte. 95 between Boston and New Hampshire called "The Big Y". Oddly pressuring for a grocery store.

One should be able to purchase over-processed canned goods without getting all Holden Caufield, dammit.

We've got the same thing going on over here - next year Runt Funny will be attending the same school her grandma attended.

that's really cool. I wish my kids could go to my elementary school. but that would be Moving *to* NYC and spending a butload for a cool hippie school. I miss those colored walls though. sigh.

We register on weds. G is very ambiv. It doesn't help we have to miss preschool to go and she Adores school and throws a fit to stay home sick, so she isn't pleased. I promised cupcakes and a girls morning though. And a new book. sucker am I.

I can't believe Owen will be a kindergartner! It seems like just yesterday you were posting videos of this crazy hair baby rolling over!

It's snowing here. I haven't seen snow like this in years and never here in the UK. I left Cleveland for many reasons, but partly because I don't like snow. Also, we got that big-ass house (well, the second floor of it) and had to take the train and bus to go pick up the keys.

Cocoa time, indeed. Good idea! Cocoa time!
