This weekend we drove 9 hours to coastal NH/Maine. Yes, we're crazy! But there was fun to be had, and

We stayed in a fairly blah Holiday Inn in Portsmouth, NH (thanks, Priceline), but it was near enough to everything to not be an issue. We only really had Saturday and Sunday for fun, but we managed to explore most of Portsmouth and spend a day in Kittery Point and Ogunquit, Maine (a familiar spot for us) too. We managed to check off everything on our small vacation checklist:
- Cute town to walk about
- Beach time
- Old timey candy shop
- Quaint stores
- Soft serve ice cream cone by the ocean
- Lobster rolls
- Hotel pool (indoor and warm!)
And there you go! The only bumps in the road were coastal beach traffic and a baby who flatly refused to sleep in a hotel crib (and eventually just ended up in one of the double beds with me, kinda sweet to be woken up by a baby excitedly grabbing my nose instead of crying). Not the most romantic trip, but as a short family trip, it worked out ok. We're happy.
