First off, thanks all for your well-wishes!
High points of the trip:
Arriving at our 'bargain' hotel in Madrid to find that we scored a room on the top floor, with a stone balcony (bigger than our apartment) that looked out over the city for miles and miles (and subsequently getting to watch the sun rise from it each morning)
Watching the chaos erupt over the US elections on foreign television (highly recommended - very interesting.)
Floating in the center of the largest pool I'd ever been in, in November, while cabana boys brought us fresh towels and such.
Getting so lost in the winding souks near the Djemaa El Fnaa in Marrakech that we had to pay two small children 5 dirham to lead us back to the square at dusk, just as a dust storm started to kick up.
Haggling for trinkets in French, and realizing I could finally speak the language without really thinking about it.
The fresh mint tea served in individual silver pots, sipped at while watching the orange-sellers and snake charmers mill about.
Arriving back in Madrid the last night to stay in the Palace hotel, once commissioned by a king, finding that we once again had a balcony overlooking the city, so we awoke on our one-year anniversary watching the sunrise from the poshest hotel in the city.
There is way too much more, maybe I'll end up transcribing the ol' travel journal here at some point.
Right now, it feels like 4pm, and I'm starving.
