Stuck. [01 Dec 2000|12:37am]
[ mood | discontent ]

I can't get the creative urge to pick up a camera anymore. I have no patience for rendering a drawing or painting. I have become an uber-critical perfectionist, and as a result I've castrated my artistic drive.

What now?

(Michael bought me a jazzy new silver Polaroid camera, and I was so excited, but haven't even loaded it yet.)

I need someone/thing to whip me into shape. I need a purpose. I wish I had the problem-solving atmosphere of a class, without the class. I need to give myself an assignment that I'll follow and enjoy working on. Better yet, I need someone to expect something from me. This is so pathetic...

Another boring entry [01 Dec 2000|01:17pm]
Right this minute, I am:
* Drinking ginger ale out of my favorite glass, the one that lists all the Kentucky Derby winners up until 1980. I'm not sure why it's my favorite. It's appropriate, in a way. I found it at the estate sale for an artist who died of AIDS. He had the most amazing collections of things - lunchboxes, toys, tons of kitsch. I didn't know him. I wish I did. I'm raising a kitschy glass of ginger ale to him, though.
Today is World AIDS Day, and Day Without Art. Marie had a good entry regarding this. I don't have the strength to stay away from LiveJournal for the day, but I admire those who do.

Please... [01 Dec 2000|02:12pm]
...tell me how my upstairs neighbor, whose apartment is the same-size tiny room as mine, fits a piano in there?

Now that I'm being serenaded by bad trombone and piano playing, I think I'll distract myself by dyeing my hair. My roots are an inch long, and blondeblondeblonde.

Unmotivated artists unite! [01 Dec 2000|02:57pm]
Ok, in lieu of the collective frustration of so many artistically-inclined LJ users, I've created a new journal that will serve as a forum for new ideas and projects we can all participate in.

If you're interested in the idea, email me.

I'm open to suggestions!
