Oh, uh, hi there!
I didn't quit you, LJ, I swear. I've been reading every day, just feeling quiet. I never feel as though I have anything important or interesting to share lately, you know? It's winter, and winter is boring.

Everyone is fine and dandy here, more or less. Owen has two pet frogs that The Mitten attempted to assassinate at 3am the other night, but they were rescued from a terrible fate after falling several feel onto a wet and gravelly kitchen floor. Larkin finally took her first independent steps last week at 15 months, immediately after the pediatrician recommended we take the number of the early intervention specialist. Ha! M is busy working and I am busy doing laundry and baking us to death with cookies.

Here is a reasonably dull video of a baby eating lunch:

What else can I play with? Nap? Ok, just let me finish up this Bechamel Silly goose

This one is just busy being cute.

Owen's new obsession is drawing. We've resorted to buying printer paper in bulk to keep up with his incessant creativity. He's been making books, too, and on the back of each one he writes, 'Check out these other books I made!' with thumbnails of the other books he wrote. Marketing genius!

LOL! Yup! :)
I just LOVE Larkin. I hope that I can meet you and your adorable munchkins in person one day!

As for the incessant drawing... that is how I was as a child. My mom used to work in real estate and she'd bring home piles and piles of outdated specs sheets for the townhomes she was selling... printed only on one side -- the other was good enough for me to draw on! It was great. I am glad (but not surprised) that you are encouraging him in that way.
My parents are professors and brought home old test papers and handouts for my sister and I to draw on the back of. :)

Hi there! I was just thinking of you and hoping all was well on your end!
okay, it's official, your baby is TOO cute. You have to tone down the cuteness a little or my head might explode.
Hee! NOMNOMNOM!

Oh, it makes my ovaries twitch...

Well, to be fair, he said he's supposed to give me the number but based on what I told him of her personality, development, etc, that I could 'sit on that number for a while if you want'. He probably just wanted to be sure his bases were covered. He's actually a really fair and supportive pediatrician, thankfully. :)
She is RIDICULOUS. The lunch song is awesome! And whatevs about early intervention/late walking! Ava didn't take one single step until 15 months old. I think some kids just are busy doing other things and aren't ready to work on walking until later.
Yeah, I wasn't worried! I knew her legs were strong and she had good balance; I told him I wasn't concerned and he basically told me he was giving me the number but I hold off calling for a while, no problem. I agree, some kids are just otherwise occupied! :)
that is one happy kid! so cute!
Omggggg she's so precious. I can't wait until Katie talks that much. And re: walking, whatever. Off the top of my head I can name 3 kids I know who didn't start walking until 15 months and they're all perfect.
The language explosion is such a funny thing. I could literally pinpoint the week where the switch flipped and she just started mimicking everything and picking up multiple words a day. You're almost there!
sydney was a late walker as well.

also, kids' drawings are the best thing ever. the entire main level of my house looks like a giant art studio. i don't know why i even bother trying to keep a clean kitchen table, it is a mess of markers and paint and glue.

halle takes an art class on saturdays. if it's something he stays interested in, children's art classes are so wonderful and creative.
I'd love to enroll him in separate art classes - he gets to draw daily in school and has a structured art time (they're glazing clay turtles now), but I think over the summer he'd love to do an art camp or something.

And yeah, storage for all those masterpieces is going to be a challenge! :)
Lucy watched that video with me. She loves Larkin. Hard to believe Lucy will be that much more developed in only four months.
Bert loved that video!
